Kona District officers arrested eight motorists, South Kohala police arrested four drivers, one driver was arrested in Hamakua, one in South Hilo, and Puna districts each arrested three motorists.
So far this year, there have been 693 DUI arrests compared with 790 during the same period last year, a decrease of 12.3 percent.
There have been 988 major accidents so far this year compared with 1,056 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.4 percent.
So far this year, there have been 15 traffic fatalities on Hawaii Island compared with nine during the same period last year, an increase of 66.7 percent.
To date, six fatalities were related to drugs and three were related to a combination of drugs and alcohol.
